Set up Notifications

Get notified about data product events directly in your team chat by configuring notification channels in Entropy Data.

Overview

Notification channels allow your team to receive real-time alerts about important events in Entropy Data.

Step 1: Get Your Endpoint URL

Choose your chat platform and follow the setup guide:

Microsoft Teams

Set up Teams webhook →

Slack

Set up Slack webhook →

Google Chat

Set up Google Chat webhook →

Step 2: Add a Notification Channel

In Entropy Data:

  1. Go to your Team Page
  2. Click "Add Notification Channel" in the right sidebar
  3. Select your chat platform (e.g., Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat)
  4. Enter a name for the channel (e.g., "#slack-channel-name")
  5. Enter the endpoint URL from your chat platform (e.g., slack webhook URL, Teams webhook URL, or Google Chat webhook URL)
    • For Slack, it should look like: https://hooks.slack.com/services/T00000000/B00000000/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    • For Microsoft Teams (Power Automate), it should look like: https://default000000.e8.environment.api.powerplatform.com:443/powerautomate/automations/direct/workflows/ccccc.../triggers/manual/paths/invoke/?api-version=1&sp=%2Ftriggers%2Fmanual%2Frun&sv=1.0&sig=666666....
    • For Microsoft Teams (Office 365 Connector), it should look like: https://outlook.office.com/webhook/...
    • For Google Chat, it should look like: https://chat.googleapis.com/v1/spaces/AAAA.../messages?key=...&token=...
  6. Click "Test" to send a sample notification
  7. Save the notification channel

Managing Notifications

  • Team-specific: Each team can configure their own notification channels
  • Edit or remove: Modify or delete notification channels from team anytime

Troubleshooting

Test notification not appearing?

  • Verify the endpoint URL is correct
  • Check that the chat channel/space still exists
  • Ensure webhooks are enabled in your chat platform
  • Confirm you have permission to receive messages in the target channel
